Ok, the truth is out there but if you want to buy into what the media tells you then go ahead. I would defently encourage you to go live in another country were socialized medicine is around and see how your views will change.

Hell, in France they have doctors that you can call and they will come to your home and you don't have to pay for it (Yes, taxes pay for it but you do not have to pay the doctor anything). They even pay for college education. Even women who just gave birth the French government apoints a nanny to come to the home for 3 days a week to help the mother out.
LOL, HE is the one buying into media spin?

You are real clueless.

Can someone tell me what is going on?

What is Socialized medicine? Is that what Canada has?

Cause health care in Canada is ****ed.. their is not enough young people to pay for the old people.. and soon if you get ****ed up and go to the hospital you're only covered up to 25k..

If you go to ER expect to get a DR that is not specialized AT ALL and could possibly **** you up.

Also expect to wait.. and wait.. and die.. and then receive help..

In Canada the rich pay under the table for underground health care..

In the states and other countries if you're rich you just get better care without risking going to prison..

Here's something I don't understand:

The pro-socialized care people are saying "You have no idea what the quality of care is really like in countries with Universal Health Care, so go there and find out how good it is."

How do you know how good it is if you yourself have never been?

Well, seeing that you are from Canada lets get your take on it. What is your experience with the health care system in Cananda?

I'm not sure what you mean by that. I have vision, dental, life, AD&D, and LTD as well as full medical.

Did that answer your question?

It is a super high deductible plan. You have to have high deductible plan to qualify for an HSA. But the card covers the deductible and once you hit your deductible coverage is 100%.
that answers it.. i forgot you had to have a high deducible plan for the HSA.

i just wondered if the only coverage you had was how much was in your account.

So do you think the majority of people could handle a plan such as yours?

Or do you think instead stupid people would spend all their money on massage and spa treatments?

If I may also point something out, the fact that the government isn't providing health care doesn't mean that the poor can't get health care. If you want to hand your money over to those who are "less fortunate" than you are, you are free to do so whether you are taxed or not. Be a good citizen and give your money to someone who can't afford insurance.

Yet those who are asking for the high taxes are not the ones who will pay it. And still you thumb your noses at high-income earners and talk about how selfish THEY are, when you're asking for more than you've earned.

I make ~$22,000 as a part-time employee while going to school, but I wouldn't want a penny of someone else's money, even if it meant I got better health care. Even if they volunteered to give me the money, I would not likely take it because it is not mine. A big part of freedom and liberty is also responsibility. I sometimes worry that we are eroding freedom and liberty in an effort to rid ourselves of responsibility as well.

To put it very simply, socialized health care is a mistake. On the surface, it seems so wonderful in an ideological sense (free care for all!), but it simply doesn't pan out.

If you ask many Canadians about their opinion on health care, they will usually speak positively of it. That is because they know absolutely nothing about it. Once you get in the beast and make a simple comparison between socialist and capitalist economics, it is very clear which system works best for all.

Over at Skepticblog, there is a similar argument being made, re: Libertarian vs Liberal. Here is a small piece of what I posted there, which is a very simple summary of my point:

From a Skeptic’s perspective, I think what I am skeptical of is the ability of government to fairly govern for all people, rather than for the majority. Certainly in a free market it is possible for individuals or corporations to take advantage of others, but the diversity of the market that results from such liberty ensures my ability to choose wisely, should I choose to educate myself appropriately. If a person does not educate themselves, they will be taken advantage of with both large and small government, but a large government will minimize the abilities of those who have educated themselves.

Yes there will dookiepants. They want to follow the traditional HMO PPO structures that exist today.

For the purpose of this conversation, yes.
Well, hopefully this will not happen to you as it has happend to many others with insurance.
