Possibly blown fuse?.....

ok so here's what happened, i got in the car put the cd in (a test tone at 50hz) and listend to it, and it sounded really really really loud so i turned the music all the way down and went in back to like turn the gains all the way down after i set the gains all the way down i turned up the volume to about 25 out of 30.....and i just adjusted it (the gains) i didn't even get close to the first line so the gains are set VERY low.....then i fiddeled with the bass boost and shit and then kept listening to it and i tryed resetting the freq. but i just turned it back to where it was then turned down the volume ejected the disk and put in a regular disk.....btw i turned it down to like 18/30 and it sounded extremely queit so i turned it up back to 25 and it didn't do anything.....it got a bit louder but not by much then i turned the gains all the way up and the sub was REALLY loud then....then i un hooked that sub and hooked up my other sub and it did the same thing so im thinking its the amp.....so like yea, i have to turn the gains ALL the way up to make them loud at about where i had the gains before i used the test tone.....what happened?

p.s. the subs are wired correctly, no wires a loose, all connections are correct!

When you first put the 50hz tone on, were your gains up high? Did you set them using an o-scope or voltimeter? Are the fuses on the amp blown? It should be easy to check....

when i put the test tone in, the amp gains were just at the first like on my amp so they were VERY low, and the subs were loud but i wound up setting it back to where my settings were, amp was perfect before i did the test tone, but anyways, then i put a regular cd in and at the same settings i had them before they (the subs) dont sound like they're playing, they are moving cuz i feel them but still they are quiet. you can't hear them but before at the same settings the subs were LOUD!

test tones are(or at least should be) recorded at 0dB

Commercial music may swing anywhere from 0dB reference to -9dB.

This prolly accounts for some of it.

well you see i dont have a big enough amp to push the two subs and i already have the one so im going to buy the same amp and push the second one, but why i did that was because when i did that test tone at 50hz not dbs Hz's lol....anyways i thought i blew the subs...so i tested my other one and it was quiet to so im sure i didn't blow my sub......how could i know if i perhaps did?

Hz Hertz, its a measure of how a sound wave i think can move back and forth in a 1 second period......dBs are decibles if you didn't know what already....
