Porting a box

My friend has a rather small box that is for two 10'' subs. He is looking into putting two jbl 250 watt rms in. Should he port the box? If so what is a good size port to maximize sound? Good place to buy the plastic port peices?

ported boxes are bigger then sealed ones...if hes gonna get new subs, new box is required, built to the specs of the subs

You cant just pop a port in a sealed box and expect any positive results. Bad idea.

what audioholic means to say is that sealed box requirements are smaller than ported boxes. since you say the box is already small, porting it most likely won't work. perhaps if you make it one 10 and port it, it has a chance at working.
