Why are you able to give a driver within a ported enclosure more watts than a driver within a sealed enclosure? Does it have anything to do with the port being able to vent the heat coming from the driver, or what?

actually, power handling decreases in a ported box, and you can go more power sealed...

u got it backwards, most of the time the sub in the sealed enclosure can take more power. It has alot to do with the mechanical abilities of the subwoofer.

U may be thinking that since people get louder with ported boxes they put more power to them or somethign
