ported generally. also depends on if the ported box is big enough for the sub. ported=bigger than sealed

also depends on the tuning on the box

if by "ported right" you mean built to spec for the sub, then go ported.

haha i thought ported... i have 2 10 inch rockford p1's.. one seems to make a scraping sound? what could that be? there not great i know.. but i cant fit much behind me seat

usually a scratch sound is a mis-alignment in the motor. could be something pushing on the cone.

check the entire excursion of the woofer has no obstruction.

You know this forum leans towards SPL when sealed systems start being referred to as 'unported'.

wat kinda vehicle are you running? also does it make the scratch when you push on the cone or when musics playing? more than likely coils become misaligned in the gap and is rubbing somewhere i would definitely get another woofer before you rub through the coil windings and blow up your amp

as far as ported vs sealed.....go ported if you have the room for it generally a much larger enclosure

im running them in a 87 chevy c10 short bed reg cab.. not much room.. it does scratch a little when pushed on, is it trash?

id probably say its toast.......if it scratches when you push on it the coil is rubbing on either the pole piece or the top plate which if rubs through the coating on the coil windings could take your amp out with it i woudl definitely get rid of it and get some new woofers

but for the space you have id try some of the kicker CVTs they are basically a shallow mount CVR and they bang in small enclosures i heard an install with just one 10 in a truck at our store and i couldnt believe how loud the thing got
