Ported SQ enclosure for Death Penalty 21?

Thinking of getting this sub. What kind of sound quality can I expect with a well designed ported enclosure geared for SQ? Without the T/S specs for the 21" death penalty, I am having trouble trying to design the right ported enclosure. Dual 2 ohm sub powered by 1,500 watts rms in a daily driver. No competitions. The Incriminator Audio website gives a range of enclosures and port area, but I do not know which combo will give the best sound quality. I appreciate any help you can give me.

I looked on the I.A. website and their ported enclosure recommendation is a tuning frequency of 32-37hz. That is low enough for me. If you have heard these subs and they have poor sound quality in a ported enclosure that isn't specifically geared for SPL, let me know. If you have personal experience with the sub, or know a bit about it's T/S specs, please feel free to comment. If not, please don't waste your time. I have already sent an email to I.A. audio, but haven't received a response. In the mean time, I am asking for opinions on this site.

Please tell me this is a joke. Taking a Dp 21" and using it for SQ come on man seriously you can't be serious bro that's a SPL sub. If your looking for SQ look into Image Dynamics , Rainbow , Fi q's (not that bad at SQ). I'll let more chime in though. But im like shocked this thread would ever even be made seriously:(. I feel sry for the Sub being Restricted from it's true potential if u do do that:(.

hows about getting a sub more geared towards sq instead of just picking their highest line because you think it makes you cool.

buy a flatlyne or two, because those are actually geared towards sq, and they'd fit the bill perfectly.

im sure they wouldnt say it, but you thinking about running their SPL woofer in and SQ setting makes you a moron.

I had a V3 XXX 15" 4 cubes ported to 30hz with the same amp. I liked it, but sold it to a friend. I am simply asking for advice on an enclosure, not what other subs people think I should get. I wouldn't doubt that a Q would sound nice, but I had a XXX and would think that it would be a step down to go to the Q. The Death Penalty will obviously have more output, and if I put it in the best enclosure that I can for it to promote SQ, then I will be happy if it sounds decent. It doesn't have to be W7 or IDMAX good. Is it people's opinion that have actually heard them that they sound as bad as Digital Designs SPL subs do? What skin is it off of anyone's back if I am not putting 3,000 watts or more to it and competing?

P.S. I never said the sub would make me look cool. I have heard good reviews on them and that is all. I had other RE gear way before the split and way before FI was created. At that time, nobody around here had even heard of RE. I have also owned TC Sounds gear from a while back as well as older Elemental Designs gear. I am not a newb. I just want to get something that nobody around here has. I haven't heard one enclosure recommendation yet, just a bunch of sarcastic comments. Why is that all people post on this forum? I am not asking about crap Boss Audio equipment or how many "watts" a sub puts out. I am asking legitmate enclosure design questions. Just because the sub may be geared more for SPL doesn't mean that I cannot build an enclosure designed more for SQ to get the best mix possible out of the combination.

Just talk to IA directly and avoid the haters on here. I run HDC's which 99% will say are SPL subs, but mine actually sound very good.
Good luck, should be a cool install...
if you're looking for SQ, which is all relative, HOWEVER, you're looking for a flat response ideally, and that would be relatively hard to achieve with an spl sub.

considering the high FS on hd's to begin with you run into an issue with that.

Now there is nothing wrong with AQ, or IA, but those subs would be extremely hard to make sound like an SQ sub, and in order to save time, and money would just be better off finding a sub thats more geared towards SQ already. Low Fs would be a good place to start.

Thanks mlstrass. I understand that is what I should do, but haven't bought the sub yet, and as we all know, you can't always trust the manufacturer, but Nick seems like he is a pretty cool guy. I am not new to car audio, just new to this forum. I started to browse this forum b/c it is pretty busy, but this is a VERY HARSH forum to post on.
