Ported R

I have one 12" Type R sub in a QLogic box with an optional port. It sounds and hits pretty hard right now and its sealed. My question is if anyone on this board has one 12" Alpine Type R in a ported box, if so how does it sound and do you recommend keeping it sealed or porting it? if you paid me to have 1 in a ported box i would still seal it imho they sound like crap ported but if you like it better keep it like that
