ported box sounds weak

every ported system i've heard has seemed weak to me. i feel like my sealed hits harder and fuller. any reasons? from prefab ones to a probox to one custom.

IMO, maybe you have never heard a quality enclosure, with a quality sub, in a quality setup.

The theme here is: listen to a QUALITY setup, and you may change your mind!

prefab ported vs prefab sealed.. understandable...

custom ported vs prefab sealed... makes no sense

prefab ported vs. custom sealed.... still understandable

its all in the box... if you have been listening to all prefab applications... you have yet to experience a whole new world

I have went from sealed to ported now. I have to say. Ported sounds way better louder. Still hits low as sealed.

What kindof subs are you using. What are you tuning your box too. Might be key things in knowing why your box sounds weak.

i'm just experimenting listen to others before i upgrade my box.

i have 2 12" kenwoods and they call for 1-2 cu ft. how many should my box be so that i get the most out of them.

Try 4cf @ 30-36Hz. Good starting point, IMHO.
