ported box questions

i know this has probably allready been covered but i checked with the search engine as well as i could and it didn't seem to directly adress this question or everybody allready knows the answer. How exactally do you calculate port displacement? like is it the entire space taken up by the port or just the wood. and When using the port dimensions calculator is the volume you use before or after port displacement. thanx for your time guyz
