ported box question

alright today i finsihed up my 5.5 cubic foot ported box for my k's, i got the port so it faces the rear and the subs are on top, a kid at school said that it would hurt 1 of my subs b/c its to close to the port opening inside the box, do u think it will?

umm i donno but one rule is thumb is to make sure that you cant see the subs through your port, but think thats for port noise. can u see your subs through your port?

well i havnt got my other 12k yet but i dont think you will be able to see it the port goes back and then curves around the back wall and then as it goes along the back wall the end of the port ends up right beside one of the subs, but u cant see the subs from looking in the port, it may just be the kid at school not knowing what he was talking about b/c i dont think it could wear the sub out quicker since its close to the port
