Ported Box Question

Hey,

I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to ported boxes, and I had a quick question. I was wondering, if I was to take a design that was made for either one or three subwoofers that would be the perfect volume and tuning for my two subwoofer setup, and change the front baffle board to fit two subwoofers, if that would change the tuning dramatically. I know that it will change the total volume slightly after the subs are in, but I'm not sure about the tuning. I was wondering if there would be any audible difference in the tunings.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the help.

Make a box twice as large as the one for just one woofer, and make a second port just the same as the first. Then you don't have to do any calculations.

well, the box that I have the design for, is a 3.5 cu. ft. box tuned to 35 hz, but it's for a single 12. which is the exact size and tuning that I want to make for my dual 12 setup. I was just wondering if I can add another sub to that box, and have the size and tuning not be affected dramatically.

Yes it would affect the response. Not enough information to say how much but probably a few dB, or enough to make an annoying peak.

If you just have to do it that way, your best bet might be to experiment with blocking the port.
