Ported box for 18's in explorer

Gosh I know thats what I'm afraid of...it just always seems like subs facing away sounds deeper and rumbles more, I dunno if anyone knows what I'm talking about, but I just like the boomy sound. My t1 12's seem to get so much lower then l7 15's facing up, 4 type r's in a wall, and even at 18" btl in a wall, altho it did only have like 1000 watts going to it. I mean there isnt that many systems where I'm from but I havent heard any I liked that faced any other direction other than back. I know tons of people do, I'm just nervous I wont get what I want.

With 2 18's, if you dont get enough rumble and deeper sounds, then you need your hearing checked. Have you ever even heard an 18? Just run it the way these guys are telling you to, you wont be dissapointed.

if you do sub and port back you will get more rattling. i would do sub up port back. 4 6'' aero ports with 2 18's moved towards the back of the box would be good.

Yea I heard a 18" BTL but it was in a crappy designed box with only 1000 watts. It was still really loud tho. I'm pretty sure I'm going to wall it behind the 2nd row and just seal it from the back, so I dont get all these rattles I'm hearing about. I would like to try out the aero's but there is no way I'm spending that much money just for aero's so I'm just going to run a slot port along the bottom.

I have 41.5 wide, 33tall, and 30 deep max outer dimensions. Which gives me 20.78 cf3 inside the box to work with. I hope after port, subs, and bracing it will still give me around 14-16.

Using the RE calculator, I made a box up which looks like I want but the only way I can raise the tuning is to make the port taller and then it gives me to much port area. On that site I can only have the port on the side but I just flipped the dimensions around to make it so I can have the port along the bottom. Its 41.5 wide by 33 tall by 30 deep with a 6in tall port. It says that gives me 16.1 cubic feet with 240 square port area and its tuned to 29.53 but I'm wanting it closer to 32, and that is without bracing and the subs. I think it says the length of the port is 23.25 but I cant adjust that to raise the tuning. Can anyone help me out and tell me how long the port actually has to be closer to 32.
