Hi everybody, what is wrong with the round ports, I see no one around using round ports on their enclosures, is there anything wrong with them.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of the different shapes, I mean round and slot?

I think building and enclosure with a slot port is more difficult and it also makes it a little bigger.

because round only come in certain sizes, and its harder to 'bend' round ports to fit your box size. slot ports are fully customizeable, and add to the strength of the box.

round ports are somewhat flimsy, only come in 2, 3, 4 and 6 (8" too - but they are expensive)

slot ports can be made to fit your box perfectly. a little more complex? yes, but better? technically no, but more customizeable due to the fact you can make it any surface area and length and bend you like.

thats why slot > round.

lol yes, but its harder to customize for the woofer you have. and you run the risk of port noise if the area is not large enough.

all the prefab bandpass boxes come with round ports, so that rite there is offputting. i dont want to be associated with that smut. and yes, its manlier... i thot everyone knew that.
