Port Question

How do you figure out how much port length you need for a certain enclosure? Dos it matter? I want to start designing my own slt ported boxes but can't seem to get a grip on how the port length works. I read the sticky on ported box design, but I didnt quite understand it.

What you need is a tool to help with these issues, I designed one that's fairly easy to use if you have excel you might give it a shot and see if it helps you out...
