Port placement and its effect

Oh
Ok so I built my box for my L7 15 and put it in my truck and when I fired it up I noticed there is a massive difference between the sound levels between the driver and passenger seat, using a smartphone meter it was showing 10db higher in the passenger seat. Now this will probably the dumbest set of questions ever, but is it doing this because the port is placed on the driver side facing the wall to the side or is it just a failed design of the box? If its because of the ports placement, could i add a second port on the passenger side to even it out or should i just plug the hole and place it elsewhere? And just some info if its needed to answer box volume is ruffly 4.1ft, the sub is inverted at an angle facing the backwall, and the port is 5in long and 4in diameter. Oh also its in a regular cab ranger, not extend cab if that makes a diff too.

port on driver side is for competitions where they place the spl meter on the passenger side dash. For personal enjoyment have the port on the passenger side. If the box is close to the roof, then up fire may work. But if its more than 12 inches away from the roof, stick with side port.

Thanks for the replies. I was worried about having to rebuild :-(, but if i cant figure out the port deal i can always just seal it up. Contrary to all i read, my L7 15 sounds fine in a sealed box and still gets good and loud. I just wanted to try ported and see how loud i could make it, but i dont wanna have to sit in the passenger seat to enjoy it lol. And every calculator i used, Torres and Xplicit I think its called, put the tuning around 32hz and change, but i think its off cause it does seem tuned higher.

I wish it was 10db louder in my passenger seat than the driver's seat. For some reason I can't get it louder in the passenger seat no matter what I do!

Yeah, generally it's louder on the opposite side of the vehicle that the port is on.

You could try to make the port longer, but there might be other reasons with the box won't extend lower, or even the sub. You'd have to reverse...
