what exactly causes port noise? anything i should stay away from when building a box so i dont get port noise?

Port noise is caused by not having enough port area for a given enclosure. Port area should be 12-16in^2 per cube.

haha, oh ok. im just doin a rectangular port like normal, nothing crazy.

No you would need between 24-32in^2 of port area.

I would go with about 30sq in for a 2cf box.

No... That website will give you the specs of a box that will have the proper amount of port area for the given volume and tuning. Just enter in your dimensions and tuning and build your box. That program should give you port area in between 24-32 sq in and if its not change things around until it is.

And the only way I can describe port noise is as a shuffling kind of sound. ITs almost muffled and it sounds bad. Youll know it when you hear it.
