port alignment

would there be any disadvantage of having my port at a side of the enclosure and having the subs facing to the back vs. having the portmouth and the subs on the same plane??

Edit - Thought you meant port on back speaker on front.

Original question. Not really any disadvantages. I have found though that front ported front speaker boxes gain a little loudness. ??? wierd but it might have been the car.

I would think "possibly" there could be some cancellation issues with the front and rear wave meeting up to soon.

as in everything pointed towards the cabin? they say some vehicles don't get louder if you turn everything to the back

just put the port (for a sedan\coup non-hatch) on the same side as the speakers.

i would do this if i do the external slotport. i was thinking about using 3 inch pvc but my enclosure would only be 14" high and 34" wide and 3 12's would be going in it so i don't think all that will fit on the fron't baffle even with fiberglassing.
