popping noise from my sub

i have a pioneer premier sub 400w rms powered by a pioneer gm-x962 amp 380w rms well when i turn the sub up pretty loud it doesnt distort it makes a popping noise, i dont know why this is happening, could this be caused by my amp? need some help fast, thanks everyone

well i heard this popping noise from my power hx2, the 1st time i took it out, the spider had come off the basket...(over excursion)...the second time, i heard that noise, then heard nothing...when i took i took it out, i noticed my voice coil was all torn...now i have a nice HEAVY paper weight...

yea, i didn't bother to look at the voice coil, which most likely was dmamged the 1st time..i used speaker glue, i email rf tech and they send me the link to the place to buy it from.....

i leanred a lesson...i now i had the gain up alil to much, and thats only because i had the bass on the radio pretty much all the way down so i heard nothing till i turned the gain up, but this was when i didn't kno the gains could do any harm.....i learned, and hope tp still learn....

turn down your gains,

sounds like your driving it into clipping.

i had the 12"....and honestly, it sounded muddy like hell( very very little sq)

and it was loud, very loud, but not wut i expected.....it is also very inefficient....

hmm.. the 10" are bone cheap... like 199

i was thinking of picking up 2..

and.. what i really wanna do is start competing.

would u think that they would get me in the door..

how do you check to see if your voice coil is screwed up?

well i was able to check mine because my spider had come off the basket, so i could see the voice coil was ripped apart.....

its still making the popping noise and the spider is fine but i dont know about the voice coil. guess ill just sell it and buy some comp vr's

on my sub my voice coil separated from the spider, but upon looking i didnt know at first.. It looks like its still on regular but right where the cone is connected to the spider , the spider is protruding outward.. YOu can tell if you have two subs because one will be slightly pushed out more than the other one.. if you only have one sub to look at though you might not notice.. If you push the cone in it will pop back in place.. be kind of gentle though so you dont mess up the voice coil. I reglued m the spider back down.. i dont know if that will work though..
