im driveing a ford escort lx,, just bought thouse little prongs you stick in the holes to pop out the old unit and the prongs dont fit in the holes, how can i get it out?

lol i bought those U shape pronged things also and had a hard time with them i had to SHOVE them in to pull it out(make sure theres no screws tho)

get the proper kit, with the proper prongs, it takes literally 15 seconds

I just used two pieces of a coat hanger bent in a U shape.

When you say the don't fit, do you mean they wont fit into the holes or that they are too wide/narrow to match up?

Just go to best buy and ask them to pop it off for you. They'll do it.

i can bend the prongs, the holes are to small to put the thick gauge metal threw the whole,

so how does it actualy take it out, what is in there that it needs 4 metal prongs in to get it out.

how does it actualy work cuz if i know i could probly figure something out?

it just releases some clips inside that hold the headunit in

Just try the coat hanger method I posted above. I had a Escort one time and it worked like a charm. The clips inside can get a bit cantankerous sometimes. But once you find the "magic spot" it will come right out.

Ford factory radio tools can be bought at almost any autoparts store...with the right tools, It takes 3 seconds to pop one out. Just push in Pull outwards, and pull out.

i spent four hours trying to get mine out with four mini screw drivers an i finally did then a few days later i went to walmart an found the tool to take it out
