Pontiac G8 Center Channel Speaker Question

My G8 has a base radio, the center channel speaker is fed with both a front right and front left channel wiring. I would like to replace it with a Kicker R3 speaker which only has one set of + and - terminals. Can I combine both + and - speaker leads then attach them to the Kicker R3? Thanks for your help on this.

Aftermarket Amp?

PS: I had a black G8 GT on 20s... wrecked that. Had a G8 GXP for about 9 months I just traded on my new truck. Probably one of the nicest sedans you can buy for the money!

Yes, I have an Alpine 4x35w amp connected to an MTX re-Q5 processor. The re-Q5 is spliced into the 4 channel speaker wiring directly after it leaves the radio and the Alpine reconnects at that point and uses the stock speaker wiring for the all the door speakers. The branch for the center channel wiring is taken afterwards in the stock wiring.

So the center channel has 4 speaker leads to it?
Yes that is correct. 4 speaker leads. Here are pictures of the stock speaker if this helps.

I took an old Pioneer TS-1675 3 way speaker and made a "Y" harness speaker wire and connected both front R and L speakers leads into the one set of terminals on the test speaker. The sound was much louder and actually drowned out the two front speakers in the doors. I then wired in a 10 watt resistor on the positive terminal of the speaker and that took care of the increased volume and actually sounded pretty good in the dash. The stock speaker has a dual voice coil from what I have learned. I think I will just keep the stock speaker and forget about replacing it since it only really is noticable when I use it for my Onstar phone system.
