POLL: Box Designers...who accounts for wood thickness

When you guys are calculating the Cu.Ft. of a box, don't most of you guys use the external dimensions when you say,"the box should be 8cu. ft." or, "my box is 10cu. ft.) and also do most of you use the external dims when calculating port??

from what i have seen this is the case, but if not, then that explains a lot for my experiences, and i have much to learn, for all of my box designs, I use the external dims when i give out my box sizes.

It depends whether you are talking about gross vs. net dimensions

just if someone says, "how many cu. ft. is your box" wouuld you tell them the outer dimension size, or the inner dimension size?

cause when i have posted the dimensions and size of a box for a sub... nobody has EVERY caught it and been like, "hey, you said you need 6 cu. ft, but you are using the outer dimensions, which is only 5 cu. ft"

I always account for wood thickness.

If I need to make an 8 cubic ft box, I make the interior 8 cubic ft.

lol...I just measure whatever the internal dimensions are...

Poll doesn't have an option for 1" board

edit: if someone asks about box size, I tell them the post sub and port internal displacement
