Polk SR6500 Installation

Also, what did you use to cut your doors to fit your Hertz? And how did you sound dampen over the two bars that open and lock/unlock the door without causing them to stick?
I used a jig saw with a fine tooth metal cutting blade. For the deadening I took two strips of material(one smaller than the other) and sandwiched them together(sticky side to sticky side) being careful to leave about 3/4" of an inch of adhesive exposed on the edges and just stuck it over them. The crossovers were under the carpet mounted just below the HVAC/blower motor.

Does anyone know how the tweeters mount? 4 screws? Does the bracket hold it in place?
How do you plan on mounting them? I have mine in the flush mount ring and just pressed into the MDF ring that is in my sail panels.

Are there any problems with mounting the crossovers in the trunk? Or should the wires from the xovers to the speakers be as short as possible?

I used a jigsaw and cut the opening than went back with a dremel and smoothed the edges out.

I have mine in the factory location the old tweeter came out than after a tad of shaving the new polks slid right in and than double bubble them right into place they look factory. I will upload pics later.

What kind of car?

Sure. And it is a ***** to cut, FYI.

How think is this plexi you are thinking of using? I imagine that plexi thick enough to be a spacer would be expensive.

1/4" Okay, you weren't lying. It took me forever to cut out 6.5" circles with a coping saw!

My car is in the shop right now, but I've started on what I can with the install. I'll upload some pics as I go if anyone cares to see.

Tools used so far:

Power Drill

Coping Saw

Jigsaw

Metal File

Plexiglass cutouts: 10x10 inch square cut to fit car doors' contours. (1/4" thick)

SR6500 Fit:

After sound deadening with B-Quiet Extreme:

In the end, I'll have these mounted in the front doors, with the crossover placement still undecided, and I'm also throwing in a Polk PA500.4 amp.
