Plexiglass wall?

Hey guys, so I had a random thought that popped up into my head and I don't think it's possible, but would like to confirm this anyways. As the title says, is it possible to have a plexiglass wall?

Could you wall off a pair of subs with plexiglass? Sorry if it's a stupid question!

Probably consider very thick lexan and you would still need to brace the hell out of it. Like every 6 or 8 inches.

A pair? I assume your not talking about a real wall and actually talking about sealing off from the trunk. I've seen some lexan boxes before so yes its possible

I have a hatch, so I would seal it off right behind the drivers seats.

Your definitely going to have to plan more for a baffle that large then, as mentioned bracing will be the only way to make it happen

I wouldn't mind bracing it with pvc pipe or something like that. In fact, I think it would look pretty neat to see through the wall while being able to see the magnets of the subs and bracing on the inside. It would be interesting.

my local banks have minimum 1.5" thick clear plexi at the teller counters. to seal off a hatch you would need something about that thick. it would weigh a ton also and be rediculusly expensive - but it would be cool to install - ive thought about it myself when i had a hatch car. my plan would of been to fabricate an angle iorn type frame completely around the inside structure of the car to bolt the clear plexi to. - as with every wall, the car must be totaly sealed from one side to the other - and a removable / ajustable size port that bolts in and out could be helpfull in getting it to sound good.

Yeah, it's probably worth too much trouble. As cool as it sounds, I don't think it's really possible for me to pull off lol. Don't have that kind of money anyways. Meh... MDF is fine.

seen a couple super street No Wall class builds with a box made out of glass and one out of marble.. And a ton of layers of it at that and he did score serious numbers. Anything is possible. I'll look for his pictures.

Yea It would look cool for sure but the price would be outrageous over mdf //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif why not just do some windows somewhere on the baffle?

Considering that you can get plexi in thicknesses of 2-3 inches, it's possible. Money wise it makes no sense unless it's a car for CES or SEMA and it's to get your name out there. Last time I priced out 1" plexi for an aquarium build it was nearly $300 shipped for a 36"x24" sheet shipped. You're talking about a wall so figure 48"x48" on the small side of things you're looking at probably $2k+ to just get the plexi much less the materials to get it to function as a wall for an enclosure. Plexi nearly doubles in cost for every 1/4" thickness increase so let's say you need 2" of thickness and the base line is 1"@$200 that'll put you at $1600 for a 2" sheet.

the glass and marble boxes scored so high because they are so dense, dont flex at all built like that - and reflect all of the sound wave vs absorbing some of it using a softer / less dense material for box construction.

i cant imagine how the tires on those viechles supported the weight tho :/ literly hundreds or thousands of extra pounds
