plexiglass help.... baddddd rattling

Ok so heres the problem. I have a 12'' x 24'' window of plexiglass. I tried liquid nails to hold it first..... bad idea. Then I bolted it down with nylon nuts and philips bolts. The thing still rattles and its pretty much the only thing that rattles in the car. You cant hear it in the car but the second u open the trunk u hear it go crazy. Yes i silliconed the outside of the plexi so no air gets through. Before i take off my vinyl again and take out the window again I need to get an idea of what I can do. So my question is what material can i put between the plexi and the mdf that will stop the rattling. It needs to be thin as well. I was thinking headliner foam because I have extra but I think the type rs will still pound the plexi though it.

PLEASE HELP! this will be the 4th time taking this stupid box apart lol

How thick is it? Is it flexing? Do you have any pics? I can give you a few ideas on how to fix it.

Most of the time it is best do your glass like this...

i used stove bolts like these

just like that not rattles no leaks nothing

those are the type of bolts i used too... It is 1/2'' plexi so i dont think its flexing.. I also screwed it from the inside out so u cant see the bolts at all

1/2'' thick and that big it's deff flexing.

I think I remember a member having a 1" thick piece of plexi for sale in the classifieds. You could always try a plexi rod connected to the box and plexi to help with flex, but you will more than likely need it to be thicker.

how does 3/4'' sound? haha but 1/2'' is pretty **** thick. i couldnt even bend it if i tried.

oh and it didnt rattle when i first put it on with liquid nails. it only started to rattle after the liquid nail bond broke in one spot.

It broke..that tells you something right there. It was flexing and broke that bond. Now it rattles.

If you want it to flex but not rattle then put something between it and the wood. I suggest redoing it with thicker plexi though.

you might not be able to but your subs can i can feel my 3/4" flex a lil when i put my hand on it so the 1/2" was defiantly flexing

**** i dont wanna wait for another plexiglass piece. what if i were to take it out clean it up and re liquid nail it with the bolts in place as well so that it couldnt flex off the bond?
