ok i just recently sold this dude (04silverz) my orion 2500D. it was in truck working perfectly fine and i sent it out that day. about a week later he writes me and says this..."the amp you sold me is busted, its only putting out 400 watts!" then he tells me, "i was driving and i didnt even have the music up and when i stopped it was so hot i couldnt even put my hand on." I told him double check his connections about 20 times and he swears his connection is right. so how can a busted amp still put out 400 watts and get hot with no music on and not have a bad connection...so i told him to check this thread so you guys can tell him whats wrong. thanks.

he's wrong, Either his shit isnt wired right, Or he has no where near enough power going to the amp... I would say its most likely fine, Thats just me though

Sorry, but there is definitely an operator error somewhere. Unless he rides around with a multimeter hooked up all the time, how can he say he is only getting about 400 watts out of it? I try to refrain from selling to noobs, as things like this can happen.

i said 400 watts as an estimate from the fact that the gain at full power was only putting out 20v when i hooked up the multimeter to it. no i didnt just jump in and throw the gain at full, though the amp did come that way. i used the same power and ground connection from my old amp and hooked another power up to the distro block and used a second ground that is being used with another amp.

so then all you experts can explain to me how this amp is unable to push 2 idmax 12s......also why the **** thing is so hot, after not even being used i cant touch the thing. i drove home for 45 minutes with my cd pplayer all the way down or even off as i was on the phone the whole time

if you want i can take pics of how its wired and post them. if i ****ed up then im sorry b dizzle. the main reason i filed a claim, as i explained to him in pm's, was im short on time. im leaving for iraq in two weeks and since you only have 20 days to file a claim i dont want to wait til the last minute. andi dont really think imgoing to have time to **** around with this once im over there. i dont know, maybe i will.

theres no reason to come on here and bash me b.dizzle and act all high and mighty. he forgot to add in here that i was on the phone with dei tech support two days ago for around 30 minutes and they exhausted their options with me and what could be wrong.

and who the **** are you to call me a noob. you dont even know anything about me or my audio experience.

Hate to jump in on this, but feel someone needs to, the 2500D's have serious defects, especially after about 3 years or so, the legs break off the output FETs from the board flopping around inside the heatsink due to lack of support in the area between the power supply and the output inductors. Could be only part of the amp working, that is why it is putting out only 20V and the power supply usually is fine so it's probably driving into some shorted out FETs drawing tons of current, that's why it's getting hot. Those amps are great till they start having problems. I get them in the shop all the time, there are ways to stop it from flexing, I think even Orion/DEI put out some info on how to fix it.

Best thing to do is unplug it before you burn up the power supply and go from a $125 repair bill to a $175 repair bill.

all im saying 04silverz is that like a told you...i had it pushing 2 10" Q's just fine...thats why i didnt appreciate the dispute claim u filed against me saying that the item doesnt match the description because i know **** sure it was pushing out 1700 watts to my Qs at 2ohms just fine the same day i send it out. im not meaning to "bash" you, i just dont appreciate what you were saying on the messages thats all. and i told you my situation right now, so theres nothing i can do about it. try unhooking it all then hooking it back up, or if you can, try hooking it up in someone else's car becasue it could be your electrical.

dude as i told you in pm, the only reaosn i put in a paypal dispute so quickly is becuase im going to iraq in two weeks. do you really think im going to want to worry aboyut this over there? i would assume that you dont mean it since you already had me listed as a ref on your sig but who knows? ill uninstall completely and try to find a friend to install it on and see if it works. im pretty sure ive got it wired right though. plus the fact that it gets so **** hot, even when not in use is pretty scary.

Just an //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif you will lose the dispute simply because paypal doesnt deal with "not as described" disputs unless it was an egay purchase.

It sucks that you are dealing with this and with a seller that is not offering any support.
