Here is my predicament, I have a sony four channel am with a high and low pass filter, I have two, jl 10w0 I recently purchased two sony 6.5 and wanted to hook them up to my amp. I am low on funds so I was going to hook both subs and speakers up to my amp. I don't know if I did something wrong, I ran rca from my outputs on my headunit to the amp, then ran wires from my amp to the speakers, now when I power up my amp the red light comes on that says over current or off set what does this mean, my amp doesn't work at all now, it was working fine, did I screw my amp or what, thanks for your help, I am new if you couldn't tell so keep things somewhat simple if you could. thanks for the help.

sounds like somthing might be wired incorrectly...give us a few specs on the amp....

here is the information needed for sure

how the amp is wired to the subs and speakers.....what ohm rating your subs and speakers are....if your subs are dvc or svc.....and how much power your amp puts out at each ohm level....good luck

hey thanks for the reply,

my amp is 800 watts at 2 ohms, 75 x4, 75x2+ 200x1 at 4ohms, 200x2 at 4ohms, line level inputs, dual mode capable. My subs where wired in series, now my subs won't run off my amp and I hear nothing out of my amp. My subs are svc. I hope that that helps. let me know if I need to tell you any more. thanks alor

im guessing you were probably running everything in tri mode correct?? the 75x2, and 200x1?....and i'll be honest...im not really familier w/ what the prob. may be....i would just make sure you check your manual and see what the particular error means....or call the tech. help number that would probably be in the book...sorry i couldnt be of more help...maybe someone else can....good luck

Hey thanks for the help, if anyone else has any suggestion please post and help me. right now I am running all four chanels, I was going to bridge my amp but it won't produce any sound. if that means anything, thanks for your help.

Hey there, I have my seats out of my dakota, I am trying to do a halfway decent install, I was just holding my ground wire onto bare metal and it is grounding, I haven't bridged it yet. My amp just won't put out any sound, I geuss my ground could be the problem but i have done that in the past when I was working on it before and I didn't have this problem. If this doens't make sense I will try to explain it more.

anyone that could help out anymore it would be greatly appreciated, I am trying to finish this up this weekend so I can drive my truck to college, next week, thanks

It sounds to me like you have the subs ran in a parallel and are dropping the ohm load to the amp too low for it to handle. Make sure you have them in a series and bridged properly over two of the channels and make sure the other speakers on the other side of the amp are not dropping the load too low.

I don't have any speakers hooked up to it or even any wires except the rca, power ground. thanks for the help. any suggestions. the lights are on as soon as it powers up
