Please help with Ipod hookup

I am new to this forum and was needing some help with hooking up an Ipod to my Alpine headunit. I have the Harmon Kardon drive & play that I am hooking up to my Aplpine CDA 9807. I talked to the guys at Crutchfield and they said all I need is the auxiliary input adapter seen here http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500KCA121B/Alpine-KCA-121B-Auxiliary-Input-Adapter.html?search=alpine+rca. I hooked it up into the CD Changer port but nothing happens. I can only switch between the radio and cd. i can't get to the cd changer option. If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it.
