no power to head unit

i was helping my buddy hook up and box and amp to his 2003 mazda tribute. we put the converter box that you splice into to the speaker wires and converts the power so you can hook up the rca's. now after reinstalling everything the headunit wont even turn on. no power wires were cut just speaker wires. is there a reset code or something?
