please help! when i first had the cassette deck last week it didnt have rca cables so i bought a speaker level converter thing and hooked it up to the HU then the wires from the converter into the R+ and R- screw down terminals on the amp, then from the amp i hooked the sub wires on top of the wires that were already in the R+ and R- terminals, connected the power wire from the amp to the + on battery, then i connected the rem. to the HU then i hooked up the ground and as soon as i was done hooking that up and turned the HU on, the amp started smoking so i hurried up and cut the power wire and d/c everything else, then the other day after i fryed the cassette HU (it wouldnt power on anymore and kept blowing fuses) i took it back and exchanged it for a cd player with rca's. i went out today and tried to hook the amp up but it doesnt have any power (the red light on top doesnt glow anymore) so i brought it inside and took it apart to find that there are black burn marks on the inside. the fuse isnt blown or anything and when it started smoking the fuse never blew. i was wondering if you guys think it is fixable, i tried to scrape the blackness off the (wire looking things that are soldered into the board) but i dunno if this help any, just wantin to know something before i go outside and see if she powers up again. thanks. and please someone give me some help.

it a profile california 2400, the transistors are black and so is the board right around there, but none of them are broken or anything, i cant just solder it back together or something?

Put it this way, if the thing started smoking its probably f***ed up so try what ever you want because you cant f*** it up any worse. I would also take it back to where ever you bought it (if it was brand new) and tell them that none of the fuses blew. You could also take it to your local shop and have them bench test it. This way you know for sure that it is the amp that is burnt out and nothing else.

even if it was under warrenty it's probable void now that you opened it up most places don't cover it once you open it up

From my understanding, you connected the wires from your speaker converter to the same terminals that the subs were connected to?

were there any RCA connections involved?

from my understanding, electronics run on smoke. They are filled with this smoke from the manufacturer, then when you **** up and let the smoke out, they dont work too well (if at all). If the transistors are black, then it is toast.

that's not right lol

I dont know a whole lot about transistors, but maybe this will help. If your transistors are black and square, get the numbers off if possible and go to radio shack and tell them what u need. If the they are round and about 3/8" long, get the stripe colors (in order and exact colors) and take it to radio shack. Then solder the new transistors in.

First off, commas, periods & paragraphs are our friends. Second please do yourself a favor and do some serious reading on bcae1.com before attempting anything associated with electronics again. Actually don't bother just pay someone else to do it.

As for scaping a circuit board that is the perfect way to cut a trace and if you really want to possibley fix your amp do what was suggested above but get someone who knows how to solder to do it for you before you create more problems because you can't just slap a big gob of solder on it and expect it to work. If you connect other traces you can burn more stuff.

And for those who had as tuff a time as I did reading the above he basically connected power to the amp and conected the powered speaker outs on the HU to the speaker outs on the amp. A power sandwhich with the HU and amp as the burnt meat.
