okay cuz theres too many wires and tubes goin into the chassis to figure tout what goes to what. The alt grounds it self through the metal of the engine. As mentioned in the big 3 trhead, find your old ground points and add to them. Or find a non-essential bolt on your engine and ground from that.
The alternator is already grounded to the engine block. It helps if you also ground it to the body of the car. Unloosen the bolts that mount the alternator to the engine block and put the ring terminal on it (Instead of taking the bolts all the way out, I just clipped a small piece off the end of the terminal and slid in onto the bolt). You may also want to do a little sanding. Now, connect that ground to a bare metal spot on the body.okay cuz theres too many wires and tubes goin into the chassis to figure tout what goes to what.

oh i was just gonna run a piece of 1/0 from my engine to a ground. is it possible to use my starter battery like that? engine block (since my alt is already groudned by the engine) to the negative on the battery or the ground where the negative lead is?i ran a piece of 2/0 from the ground of the alt to the engine to the back where my amps and spare battery was located
