Please Help (JL Audio Subs)

Truthfully, i am going for sq and spl, and I didnt think that putting a w7 in a ported box would ruin its SQ. It will still have SQ and I will get more dB's out of it. There are a lot of people with w7's who have them in a ported box.

That is somewhat underpowering, so I figured by putting them in a ported box would help with that low power I am giving them.

Porting a sub is not going to make it loose SQ if it is tuned properly. A good vented box tuned properly will sound amazing. Putting the subs in a ported box makes it easier for the sub to move with less power than in a sealed box.

Thanks, that is what I thought. But still, can anyone give me info on the w6v2's?

porting it will make it more efficient, ie get louder with less watts

i have never heard the 13w6v2 yet..i have heard the 12w6v2 and i must say they r awsome subs...no joke...the get quite LOW and still produce a nice SQ...the setup was in a Escalade runnin the subs off a single JL 1000/1 in a ported box...and i really liked the system...they sounded sooo good IMO

just tell me what you think they are compared to your 2 12" w7's when they had 500 watts rms to each of them? Are they close in SPL or not even? I know the SQ is close from the research I've down, I just want a good thump.

I agree, he can tune is box to high 20's and it will still sound amazing. But if he is going to port them and,in a sense, cancel the purpose of getting a w7(its sealed box SQ)then why not go for a XXX or Mag D2? I highly suggest you take a look into a mag D2, they're ***-a-licous subs that will take goobs of power, sound downright insane, and for the price of 1 13w7, you can get 3 Mag D2's.

than jl in anything. period

make sure you get jl brand wires as well, they are way more expensive but worth it

I mean to think that a product that is 1/3 the cost and not known as well as JL could be as good as JL!

I mean to think someone would buy and excellent SQ sealed box sub and then port it and still get about the same SQ as another sub.

Jl brand wires over Monster wires? Monster makes some sick RCA's, Monster M Series XLN1001. But i didnt plan on spending 1000 on rca's for my 4 amps so I am not going to do that anyways.

who said the 12w6v2 was gonna be discontinued, i think they were talking about the w6ae not the w6v2.

anyways i sayd 13w6v2 vs 10w7.. sounds like a hard choice.

i was gonna throw in the fact about the ohm loads and stuff, but i say this

they gonna sound pretty much the same, i was gonna say that the 13s would have a lower end than the 10s but the 10w7s that i've heard before sounded goodddddd....

basically its whatever is hte cheaper buy.

save space get the 10w7

space not a factor get the 13w6v2

will eventually downsize, get the 10w7 b/c one of those off 500/1 will be good.

oh and i've herad a 12w7 off a 500/1.. its worth it.... shoot, you could just get 1 12w7 and power that forawhile and see how u like it......
