Hey guys, been a long time lurker. I have a problem and am not savvy enough to figure it out at a quick glance and i don't have the time to fully investigate the problem as it is my work truck and needs to be up and ready to go at a moments notice. Hopefully some of you can give me some ideas of things to check out.
Here is my truck setup, in an '05 Dodge 3500 Quad Cab dually CTD: Alpine CDA-9883 H/U, Boston Pro60 components in front, stock speakers (run off deck, NOT amplified) in rear, JL Audio 300/4 Amp pushing the Boston Pro60's, 2x JL Audio 10w3v2 subs and a JL Audio 500/1 Amp for the subs. I also have XM radio, iPod adapter, and Bluetooth hooked up on my Alpine. Everything has worked fine the past few months since I had it installed, but 2 days ago the woofers for the Boston Pro60's stopped producing and the tweeters are not putting out much sound. The rear speakers (if i turn the fader back towards the rear as i generally run mostly to the front with just enough turned back to barely hear something coming out of the rear speakers) still work fine and produce a full range of sound. The tweeters do not have any distortion but they are obviously not producing any midbass and the mids are not doing anything at all. I initially suspected the amplifier but upon a quick inspection the amplifier powers up and seems to be working fine. I also checked for any loose connections around the amplifier and found none. Before I start ripping my truck apart and putting her unavailable to work, can anyone point me in the right direction of the possible culprit? I would suspect wiring to the midbass, but BOTH mids stopped working at the same time so I don't see how it could be wiring from each individual crossover to the woofer.
Anyone have any ideas? Any and all suggestions where to look would be appreciated.
