Playing loud in winter

I know that it is bad on your subs to play them when it's cold. But I live in Indiana and it gets down to like the twenties normally during the winter. Should I have any problem with my 15's?
I hope not.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/moon.gif.9d317aec3339ffe7fde0638df52c628a.gif

I wanna hear em' again.

Bah I live in minnesota and I have one 15 in my truck. It gets **** cold here! My 15 is pounding hard and strong, but it does take my amp upto 3 mins to fully warm up and push my sub fully.

Why exactly is it bad to play them in the winter?
It's only bad if you turn them up and crank them right away... if you start them out at a moderate volume and let them get warm again, you will have no problems. However, not warming them up causes two bad things.

1. The cold weather makes most woofer cones become stiff and rather brittle, which would cause it to crack if not warmed up.

2. Your amp is also cold, and needs to warm up before you attempt to draw lots of current to it.

I was asking when it is too cold to play them at all.

I also added that the rattly metal turned me off to having my 15's in.

Does damping material help when it's cold too?

i live in florida

its rain or shine and still no less than 50degrees //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Minnesota winters shredded the surrounds on my Jl Audio 12W6's. I got new subs now and am being much more careful. Just let them warm up. It sucks, I hate the fckn winter. Time to move.
I blew the surround off of a 10w0 by turning my car on in the winter and the music was accidently left up too loud. If it were warmer, the sub would have been fine.

btw: Thanks for that free 10w0 Jon.

btw again: esco needs to come to Indiana and play his stuff this winter...florida is spoiled

ahhh i always wondered why my subs werent as loud first thing in the morning on the way to school as compared to when school got out. I always thought it was in my head cuz i jus got up
