looking at the rythmik audio 350 watt basic plate amp, i ran across this:

Note:

1. The auto on is only available on left channel input.

2. This amp is intended to be used with a HT receiver, where phase control is not needed. For musical applications, where phase control is important, we recommend the special edition amps.

as far as #2 goes, i have a 5.1 receiver, but i only use 2 speakers on it and i have a crap *** jensen powered "subwoofer" connected to it too. does #2 mean that have to buy the special edition?

You don't have to.

You would, however, want to buy it if you wanted phase control.

But I presume you are just building a stereo for something to listen to, and not for audiophile sound.....in which case, phase control wouldn't be a major issue for you, or something you necessarily needed.

ah- haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa:thumbupw:

this is the answer

It synchronizes the in-and-out movement of your sub's woofer with the woofers in the rest of your system so that when the subwoofer cone is "pushing" air out, the other woofer diaphragms are also moving outward. If your subwoofer is on the same plane as your front speakers then set the subwoofer phase switch to 0.

thanks bunches, i owe you a little debbies
