Plasma tv

Samsung does make nice products, I had a bad experience with their customer service. The lg is great, and yes, if glare is an issue, you deff don't want a plasma. Vizio has been around longer than some think, the are one of leading mfg for monitors used for hi def cctv. Anyway, I think the highest refresh rate on non plasma is 240hertz, I could be wrong on that though. I would try to find one with the highest refresh in your budget.

so im actually in the market for a tv. sorry to thread jack, but alot of good info guys in here. looking for a 40-50" in the 600max range. leading towards LED as stated glare is a big issue on plasma, and it will be in a living room with large windows. I've gone to stores just to look at the picture and brands, i have to say i like the looks of Samsung and LG more than Vizio. Any model reccomendation, would 60hz be okay, or should i go up to 120hz? i dont need any Smart/3d/etc bs.
We install Panasonic pro monitors, Sony pro monitors, Samsung TV's, Sharp TV's, LG TV's, and even Hisense TV's. These are the brands we offer because they typically have the best quality and don't have as many issues. We didn't start using Hisense until a couple years ago, we opened their tv's and saw that they sourced their panels from Sharp and backlighting from phillips. They are typically cheaper in cost but we haven't had complaints yet. If you can find one with a good warranty, I wouldn't hesitate. If you're concerned about brand name, then go for something else.

With that being said, I wouldn't worry a ton about refresh rate. 60hz is like I said, what is typically used. If you play video games (ps3, 360, xbox 1, and ps4) can only produce a 60hz refresh rate, you may see artifacting if you are trying to run it higher. However, every tv I've setup has the option to turn off (motionblur, clearpic, etc.) the 120+hz and drop down to 60. Some even let you pick between several. It's mostly a personal preference.

Sports benefit because of the added frame interpretation; In football it will add frames in between giving it a smooth picture quality.

Look somewhere like Tigerdirect, newegg, etc. I've ordered many times with no problem.

ill keep an eye out for hisense. i have always loved sharp, but pricey. i game, but this tv wont be used for that. living room regular tv use. eventually ill up my current game tv.

Surprised nobody called B.S. on the OP's contrast ratio spec. If you really think you're getting a 3 million to one ratio, you're on crack. Love Samsung to death, but even they over-exaggerate that spec.

Oh, and 1080p/24 FTW. Lulz at you guys and wanting to run HIGHER than 60Hz...

Thought about going in depth on everything. Didn't care to explain.

I always get bashed when I say refresh rates are marketing hype. Watching movies with 'motionblur' is painful.
Tell me about it. I can't freakin' stand the SOE that people seem to love. If everyone else didn't, maybe the companies would work on better 1080p/24 support for consumer-level TVs

I posted what was advertised, as far as my B.S., meh. I can visually and distincly tell the difference between the two, with the lg having a much clearer picture, period. I am well aware that there is a lot of hype when it comes to these types of things, but here WE all are, deep into this stuff.
