What is better for the infinity perfect 12 VQ. sealed or ported? Im new to this so anything will help. Ill be runnig it off a RF P4002 bridged to 400RMS. Any box layout will be nice.

It will depend on your Q selection. That's the good thing about the Perfect VQs -- they can be optimized for either enclosure depending on what you want out of them.

The Q selection is the little metal slugs that come with the sub. You put in different slugs to change the electromagnetic parameters of the sub.

It all depends on what YOU want out of the sub. What type of characteristics do you want? How much space do you have available? What type of frequency response do you want?

Changing that little metal piece will make the sub very different. If you leave the piece out, you should put the sub in a large sealed enclosure or run it infinite baffle.

With the low Q insert (the biggest one) you should run it ported in about 2 cubes tuned to 28hz or so.

With the mid Q insert, I would recommend between 1.5-2.5 cubes sealed.

It all depends on what you want out of the sub.

But now i have no clue on dimensions on box. Does anyone have a layout for 1 cu ft?

Do you want tight bass? Do you want smooth bass? Do you want it to be able to really crank out the low frequencies?

What is it you want out of the sub????

The beauty of this sub is that you can tailor it to be EXACTLY what you want. You're failing at that right now and you're trying to go with what somebody else likes. Guess what? I bet he probably doesn't like the same things you do. Do you think he has the same favorite foods? Same taste in women? Would you also assume he has the same taste in what sounds good from a sub? I wouldn't.. but I guess if you can't think for yourself, go for it.

You fail at that sub; I feel bad for the engineers that worked on that design.
