Planning a setup in my room

Ok so I want to make an audio set up in my room. Nothing huge, just like 1 or 2 speakers with good bass. Like a subwoofer only not that big. Im not looking for top of the line either just average. Im guessing I need just a speaker, or would I need an amp too? Hit me up with good bass speakers. Thanks.

So if I got something like this( is it a good brand or no?) AudioSource PSW112 12" 175 Watt Front Firing Subwoofer | Parts-Express.com

How would I plug it into something I can connect my music to. Like a cd player or ipod.

The BIC 10'' V1020 is a good budget home sub. $139, plug it up and you're done. I run an Atlantic Technologies HT sub, but it's a little pricey.
