I bet if aq amps were avaiable from say sonix or crutchfield they would be cea certified though. I guess because aq or a rep is one of the few places you can get them, why bother in paying for the cea certification...

Yeah, IF they were being sold through sonic. Noobs see CEA certified and immediately associate an amp being able to put out rated. CEA doesn't specify enough, however. That rated could have been achieved at a high voltage or a very low impedance load.

no problem i was just asking what exactly was wrong with the amp, because soundstreams returns dept tested it and could not find anything wrong with it. they even played it for over an hour to see if it was something that developed over time, but still found nothing can you please let me know what exactly was wrong with the unit so i can tell them what to look for? i asked them to change it out with a different amp, but they do not have anymore of these in stock right now. if they cannot get it changed out is there anything else that might work:

Even though the amps are rated at 12v and 4 2 & 1 ohm stable?

how long was it sitting for?

it could be extremely dusty on the inside and that dust could litterally be smoking.

I hooked it up a few days prior to it starting to smoke up, when I was driving home from school blasting my music the subs cut out when I was pulling up to a stoplight and i started smelling and seeing smoke coming from the trunk.

Is the planet a big bang series? if so its a powerful amp I haven't had any experience with the new stuff but it seems solid.
