im thinking about buying one of these just to try, for all out ugly spl, ill make a big ported box for it, and wire it to 1 ohm into my bx1500d, and crank it. i can get one for 130$--- 18" 1800 watts rms, 300 ounce magnet, seems like a beast, and ive always wanted to try one of these dual spider jobbers, but cant afford a stroker. wadda ya all think, just a waste of my time and money, or good for hurting people ears.(ill keep my other subs too)

my friend had 2 of the FU 15's in a single cab isuzu with the bed and cab thing on the bed(not sure what u call it, its not a bed cover, it goes up as high as the roof of the truck)made into his box, the port hole was large enough for me to fit into, that mofo SLAMMED he pulled up at my house once wit it on and i could hear it inside like i was in my truck listening to my sub. and i could hear him well from 2 neighborhoods down

i ran one in my wall with 700w. the port was all wrong for the sub and had an unusually low peak(50hz). it was down about 1db from my SX18 on a straight swap, but you would never notice it with your ears. overall, i was very impressed with how well it sounded.

some things to note...

i would go about 6-7 cubes, 120-150" of port tuned around 35-40hz. the suspension is very stiff so it won't have a problem hitting the lows in most music, and it will still have a nice peak in the mid 40's(right where most rap/r&b is)

1kw and above will make this sub happy

your going to have to use pan head screws, regular drywall/wood screws will not work. the mounting holes are rather large.

all in all, under $200 on ebay is a steal for a well built 18" subwoofer.

i'm sure you'll enjoy it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

waht about the gap that it will leave in my midbass? the 18 wont produce midbass frequencies very well will it? and my speaks arent quite meant for that either,( they start to sound bad when they are forced to produce bass) i run them on the high pass filter. so will it make stuff sound strange. or will the 18 produce the same as my 12's do?

oh, and if i only have 4 or 5 cubes, will i still be ok? i cant fit anything more really, im still trying to find somwhere that will tell me the box recommendations for this thing.

4-5 cubes is really pushing it on the small end for any 18". you can get away with a smaller port, around 80". that will keep it a little shorter and free up a little box space.

as far as midbass, subs aren't really designed to be stout midbass performers. however, my 18" will play a 80hz note that will rip your head off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
