Not too likely with a $200 budget...
I thought H&R's were cheapos //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

handgun: ruger, beretta.

rifle: ruger, marlin, remington

.22s arent expensive, those are all nice ones, except the remington rifle, but 156 bucks doesnt buy you a whole lot.

and your point? too much gun. a guns job consists of one thing, to kill. period. that gun gets the job done. if you want to talk too much gun, look at the raging bull line from taurus. .500 mag with like a 10" or 13" barrel.
NOPD was involved in a chase on Interstate 10.

Bad guys shoot at the PD, PD returns fire. A single round went through the back window of said bad guys' car, through one of the bad guys, out the windshield, through the back window of the car in front of the bad guys and lodged in the skull of the completely uninvolved woman driving the vehicle in front of the bad guys' car.

Yes, a handgun's job is to end life. That is primarily what it was designed to do ~ end the life of a human being.

NOPD found out that both judges and juries don't take too kindly to innocent bystanders being killed by the cops simply because they're carrying too much firepower.

Is a .44 Magnum a very capable weapon? Certainly.

Does every situation necessitate a handheld cannon? Nope. Not even close.

sounds like that cop got a little trigger happy, because one using his head always knows whats behind his target.

Had he been using a lesser caliber weapon or perhaps even loads that weren't quite so hot what lay beyond the intended target would have been completely irrelevant.
Under normal circumstances it shouldn't have mattered. You shouldn't have to take into consideration what lies beyond 3 sheets of automotive glass and a human being, generally.

thats a risk a gun owner should never take. he didnt have a clean shot, but yet he took it anyway and it turned out bad. the officer was at fault, the gun only did what it was supposed to do. yes, the .44 is a lot of gun, yes it is overkill for a an officer to carry, but yet he should have known that.

he is/was wrong, period. not the guns fault.

That cool...but you have to be 21 for a handgun //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
You have to be 21 to buy a handgun from a store and to buy handgun ammo, but you only have to be 18 to own a handgun.

fyi.

If you're caught in the possession of a handgun and you are 20 or younger here it will soon get you a free trip downtown charged with illegal possession of a handgun //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

My mistake, that varies with each state cause here in MN I can target shoot and hunt with one.

That’s a vary ignorant statement, the kind that gets people hurt or killed. Anything beyond your target at any time is 100% relevant. Bullets aren’t remote controlled. They go where they fly or deflect. Anything within the range of the load is completely relevant. I would expect anyone who handles a firearm to be 100% aware of that.

Okay - I'll accept that my quoted statement, in it's quoted form, was more than a bit misplaced.

Not completely irrelevant, no.

But when you're shooting into something that should under average circumstances remove a great deal of the forward force of any projectile you should be able to make reasonable assumptions about an adjusted path/distance of travel.

I'm well aware that bullets are not remote controlled.

Look at it in this light, however...

When shooting into gallon jugs full of water lined up in a row....were that projectile not to travel into or through any of those gallon jugs it would travel much farther unhindered than it would shooting into the jugs.

But if you are shooting into the jugs should you need to be as concerned about something that may lie 100 yards beyond those jugs as you would if you were simply firing into open air?

From what my father has always told me, you should always expect the worst. I can understand you concept tho, I think if you were really shooting jugs then you would want to worry what was behind the last jug for sure.

9mm ftl //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif I'll stick with my .45Are those Pachmeyers? (sp?)
Its my target pistol...$4.50 a box vs. $12 for .45 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Its not the only one I own, just the only one I'll show.
