Ok, I'm interested in purchasing a pioneer 880. I have read that a few out of alot people are having problems with whine in there system after they installed this deck. Now keep in mind that it could be other factors such as bad rca's, rca's too close to power wire, bad ground, etc. If you have this deck, can you pick if wether you have this problem or not. Also note what you have done to diagnose the problem, if you fall within the possible bad deck category. Thanks in advance.

oh, also can you comment on the sound quality. Preffereably a comparison of this deck to your prior deck.

whine problem? more like whine problem solver!

I went from a NOISY, WHINY, and frustrating P960 (basically a dual faced P860 FYI), to the 880 and I have zero noise at all in my system.

I just wish I had figuered out sooner that it was bad RCA grounds. I spent countless hours troubleshooting my amp and headunit grounds and spent money that didn't need to be spent.

Personally I have not heard this at all about the new 06 decks, or the 880 specifically being a problem. But if by chance it is, you can always just ground your RCAs with leftover 18 guage remote wire.

EDIT: SQ is amazing. Auto TA and EQ are cool. (These features never worked on my old unit either, I guess due to too muchnoise being induced in the system when it was trying to perform the tests.) It is better than my P960MP. Period.

I wouldn't say its the same as the DEH-P860 at all...

You're the first person I've heard of complain of a noise issue, on my personal unit I never had that problem. Then again I also never had that problem with my old 860. Neither of the 4 I've sold to customers and installed in their cars here at work have had issues either.

Good luck with your problem though

The sound quality was good on the deck, the level of adjustment is quite good but overall I would say the SQ was about the same as with my Alpine 9855 and 860MP I've used previously.

I don't have this deck or problem. Just heard a few people mention they have this problem. I'm interested in buying this deck so I decided to do a poll to get an idea of how many people are actually having problems. Thanks for your input.

I've used alot of Pioneer decks over the past 15 years and I've never had any noise from ANY of them.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

None of my pioneer decks either. However, I've came across many other systems with a pioneer decks that have this annoying problem. it can easily be other issues though.

Agreed. You can find identical decks that were built and perform identically but installs are a different story.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I know this thread is a few months old, but I just got my system hooked up and I'm getting the nasty whine. I tried grounding the HU to the battery, and the ground all the amps are hooked up to. Still shrieks. Tried grounding the RCA's but it is still doing it. Anything else I can try before I send it back? Also, anyone know if Pioneer honors the warranty when it's bought brand new off Ebay?

pioneer did for me a year ago with my old 960. they said since it was a current model regardless of where i got it that they would do a courtesy fix. have you tried switch rca's completely?
