Pioneer vs mach5

i'm truly sorry if i offended you. i didn't mean to insult your business decisions.

i understand that designing an 18" driver for that price is no easy task //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i'm just not a fan of the stamped basket, or the foam gasket that's just glued onto the top of the basket. just reminds me too much of a cheapo home theater sub that you'd find in a boxed set.

i really do like the four spoke you have on your other subs, though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

just my opinion based totally on looks and pre-conceived notions. please disregard my statement.

No offense taken xluben. Who am I to criticise your personal tastes anyway? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I just find it strange that the OP is comparing an apple to an orange, and judging them by the number of "watts" they handle. Whether its a stamped, cast frame or made out of solid gold, the 18" would sweep more air with the same power added. Period.

Best,

Mark

i agree, no replacement for displacement.

logistically an 18" won't work for me, so i tend to not like them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you give me a few more days I can report back on the MJ-18. I am in the middle of building a 3.0 cube sealed box for it. It will either be powered by an Orion 2500D @8ohms or Orion 800.2 or Cadence Z800.

denim I will wate I might get the 18 next month if I like the review you give with it in a 3.0 cube sealed box I have a mustang so I cant go mutch biger then that I cant wate to hear what you think about the sub

If you want head over to the Mach5 forums, Pandy a member there already has his installed and he loves it. There are tons of home audio people who love the MJ18 to death. Also I believe Mark said that there is another 18" model on the way. If you want check into the MAW-15's they just came out. I have a MAW-12 and have yet to test it becuase it also needs a box built, but I could try it in one I already have. Every review I have read has said (on all Mach5 subs) was they were flat out suprised at the performance that you get for the money.
