Pioneer smart sync app wont connect

I just installed a DEH-X8800BHS and I can play music via Bluetooth through but the smart sync app won't connect to the hu. It keeps telling me to check if usb mtp is off but there's no option to be found for in in any on the Hu menus. I'm on Android BTW. Anybody have this issue?
