the cd7000 has area shot. the nav pice inhances the features of the area shot.

it's kinda gay, basically, you log into the Eclipse website. Register your HU, and then you can input the starting address and ending address of where you want to go. Then you download a file, and input that file into your HU, using CD or mem stick.

Every time you want to go somewhere different, you have to do this entire process. I thinks it's just too dam much trouble. But it does have a pretty cool N/S/E/W direction Arrow.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

Just installed my CD7000 last night. Only had about an hour to play w/ it, but figured out most of the items... the hardest being switching to 3-way.

I previously owned a CD8454 (04 top model). The sound quality is improved like crazy (Eclipse amps have 8v sensitivity, they are left like that from my 8454 w/ mids turned to approx 5-6v). I haven't even adjusted the gains (safe since it's on "0 gain"). I will take time this weekend to adjust the gains properly and see where it lies. So far, I'm VERY happy w/ the unit.

The GPS Antenna can be added to the directions from Area Shot automatically change... otherwise I think you can press a button to go to "next direction". Basically, it's mapquest on crack =O
