pioneer hu problem with usb source not playing sound

when my radio or cd sources are on they work just fine but when my usb source is selected which i mainly use for my ipod, it shows that the music is playing but the sound is not working, i unplugged the ipod and turned it off and on and also turned the radio off and on, the ipod works fine with headphones, so i dont think its the ipod, also when i press next it delays like 4 seconds to switch to the next song.
