Pioneer Head Unit Question

Just inherited a Pioneer DEH-3900mp head unit. I also have a small sub setup (just to have a little bump for the dailty commute, nothing fancy).

The head unit has Subwoofer output options that increase in increments of 1 ranging from -24 all the way to +6. I always keep the level around -3 anyway.

But my question; Is it safe to say that these are increments of "1" each a decibel?

(i.e. -3 would be 3db worth of attenuation?)

Please let me know if I need to rephrase anything...
