Pioneer DEHP6000UB & USB cable question

i bought this model off of somebody, i didnt get a usb cable with it like most usb pioneer cables come with. what im wondering is if i can just buy an ordinary quality usb extension cable and use it with my usb thumb drive. i dont think a pioneer branded usb cable is needed for this kind of use. anyone had experience? the cable shouldnt have any kind of special reading, it comes down to the head unit reading the info. its kind of like how motorola has a usb cable with the M logo on it, but really you can use any ordinary usb cable with them.

a reg usb cord works,, i have the white one from apple on my head unit pioneer 6000

if you have an ipod just use the ipod usb cable

if you need a USB extension, any one will work
