Pioneer CD-UB100 USB Adapter

A pretty straight forward thing, but I'm questioning how to go about hooking the hot lead to this unit. Instructions indicate NO to direct connect through firewall to battery. Also indicate no splicing into existing HU hot power line. What is the best way to connect this to continual 12V? thanks
