Pioneer Avic D3 broken screen question

I've spidered the screen (the glass) behind the protective film on my D3. It still powers up and is operational but I can't select any buttons due to the screen being cracked. This doesn't show up as a replacement part on the pioneer website and was wondering if anyone has run into this before. I've searched for broken D3s on ebay/craigslist and have come up with nothing as of yet.

If you can't find one used, then probably your only other immediate option would be buying a new replacement LCD from Pacparts.com for $247. Here is a link:

Thank you for any info I figured as much. Do I really need a full LCD though can't I just get that certain glass I mean you can still make out everything behind it, it's not like the LCD leaked or anything.

probably shouldn't ******** that close to your headunit next time. But in all seriousness. You could try to find a d3 with broken internals and swap the lcds?

Well if you look a bit further down the page for the parts list on the AVICD3, they also list part # CSX1114 Touch Screen for $51.51. This may very well be the touch screen overlay for the LCD screen that would be busted on your unit. Replace that part and you may be good to go.

I'm going to contact pioneer to see if that's in fact the part I need. Thanks egiles for the part #!

Also this was a swap for a buddies (co-worker) older guy who told me he left the bar the one night and it was sending him to los angeles and he punched it out his was spidered right in the middle so he had better aim than the one pictured. I wanted to know if anyone has tried this fix because I just got several relatively deep ,through the protective(?) outer layer, but small (less than 1/8") scratches that caused the touch screen to be useless. I see that the site now seems to have the right part for the AVIC-D3

but wondered if this is something that can be replaced easily (i.e. w/o intricate soldering skills) or is impractical to replace. Lesson learned-The touch screen worked until picking one of the frayed pieces off.

I had to replace the screen on my D2. I dont recall the price, but that 51 sounds about right. Just keep in mind it might be worth finding someone to do the install for you. Pioneer has a flat rate of $200 for any labor done, and id say its safe to say thats rediculous

I just purchased the touch screen and plan on replacing it myself. If your interested i can post a How-to and some pictures to help anyone else who attempts this repair.
