Pioneer and gains

Is it ok for me to set gains on my Pioneer deh P88RS on volume 58 out of 62?

Get a cheap tweeter from radio shack. wire it to one of your channels. Put the gains on the minimum. Turn the head unit up until you hear a tone change then back down just a bit and set your gains therer.

Mine are at 55 of 62 on my DEH 980BT. Many will say these things don't distort until about 60 or 61 of 62.
